Cutting phase of a lava stone block from Mount Etna. This is done using a diamond blade, a tool specifically designed to work with this resilient volcanic rock.
During the cutting process, "mud-like slurry" is generated, which deposits on the surrounding walls, creating intriguing textures.
The extraction of lava stone, unlike other materials, is carried out using explosives or simple detachment. This unique process results in the formation of irregular blocks known as 'Palloni' (balls).
